Whole-House Design Case | Minimalist Woodwork, Cozy Nordic Style

This project showcases a full‑house design in the Nordic style. Let’s take a look together! The living room features an entire wall of bay windows. While bay windows often have limited flexibility in residential spaces, here they play an exceptionally important role. Their soft texture, natural light, comforting warmth close to the floor, and refined sense of comfort all evoke the everyday rhythms of life—its simple joys and challenges, its laughter and sorrows. The interplay of openness and concealment within the space opens up countless design possibilities, creating rich depth and meaning even in a compact area—like a mustard seed containing Mount Sumeru, or the sun and moon held within a tiny vessel. This case showcases a Nordic-style whole-house design. Let’s take a look at this project together!

The living room features an entire wall of a bay window. While bay windows often lack flexibility in residential design, in this space they play an exceptionally important role.

Gentle textures, natural light, comforting warmth close to the floor, and a refined sense of living all evoke the everyday rhythms of life—its simple joys and sorrows. The interplay of openness and concealment within the space opens up countless design possibilities, creating rich content within a compact area, much like the mustard seed containing Mount Sumeru or the sun and moon held within a teapot.

In the relatively limited space of the bedroom, the designer aimed to maximize room for the child’s activities. Accordingly, the bed is positioned in the upper half of the space, while the lower half is reserved for reading, entertainment, and play. Though the corner is small, it provides ample room for the child to pursue many of their favorite pastimes.

In the kitchen, a sideboard was integrated with the dining table, expanding the countertop while simultaneously creating an open storage solution that faces the kitchen itself.

Originally, the front door opened directly into the living room, offering an unobstructed view of the entire interior and leaving no psychological buffer zone. To address this, we designed a shoe cabinet at the entrance, using it to delineate a transitional foyer space, making the flow between entry and interior more natural and harmonious.

White small tiles were used on the walls to accentuate the spatial lines, while movable sliding‑track outlets replaced traditional sockets, keeping the walls sleek and clean.

The cement‑based artistic coating in the bathroom echoes the headboard wall, lending the space a sense of extension and preventing the addition of another bathroom from making the master bedroom feel smaller or more cramped.

That wraps up our introduction to this Nordic‑style whole‑home design. If you like it, feel free to leave us a comment and join the conversation!
